Why Pronto: The Pronto is an honest-to-goodness race machine that embodies Serotta’s heritage: high performance, durability and unsurpassed build accuracy.
The titanium Pronto is engineered for speed and built to be raced. Design a stiff drivetrain and a frame that handles torsional forces – then add geometry that favors precise steering – and you’ve got a recipe for one responsive race machine.
Pronto vs. the Competition: We don’t just call this a race bike. It’s a no-holds-barred race bike. The cockpit is designed for speed ahead of comfort. We built the Pronto from titanium because it will withstand the rigors of racing better than most carbon frames. Plus, there’s a magic in the oversized double-butted titanium tubes that a racer will not find in any similarly priced frame made from any material. And no other bike on the planet uses the Serotta Composites S5 Carbon Fork. Like the tubing, its stiffness is matched to the size of the frame. Naturally, the Pronto is built by hand in our factories in Poway, California, and Saratoga Springs, New York, by the same team of craftsmen who build everything to our one guiding standard: perfection.
Experience Matters: Ben Serotta’s pioneering advances in frame design and fit made Serotta the go-to bike for American racers when they burst on the international scene in the 1970s and 1980s. Their first stage wins, grand tour victories and podiums at the world’s greatest cycling events were all achieved on Serottas. The Pronto is a proud descendant of those bikes. Over four decades Serotta has designed, engineered and crafted more bespoke bicycles than any other brand. The Pronto’s dozen standard sizes are based on the data we’ve compiled in building thousands of made-to-order bicycles. The Pronto will fit. And it will fly.
The Pronto: A kick-ass race bike.
What makes the Pronto’s ride and race performance so distinctive? The simple answer lies in the combination of decades of design experience, the precision engineering of the highest quality materials and the hand-built craftsmanship of 40,000 Serotta bikes.
The more complex answer lies in the under-the-hood details designed, engineered and built into each Serotta, a process Ben Serotta began more than 40 years ago. Beyond the flawless welds of our durable titanium tubes, the under-the-hood details of the Pronto SG include:
